Special

At a glance

- Hasami-yaki (波佐見焼), Nagasaki Prefecture, over 400 years of porcelain tradition
- Tokusa (十草) stripe with wakakusa (若草) spring-green glaze; subtle kan'nyu crackle on interior
- 18cm wide, 6.8cm tall; suited to salads, pasta, sharing dishes or everyday use

Two familiar Japanese tableware traditions in one bowl: the tokusa (十草) stripe, a rhythmic pattern inspired by the straight parallel lines of horsetail grass, and the wakakusa (若草) glaze, a fresh spring-green tone whose name means 'young grass' and suggests the colour of a hillside in early April. Together they create something that feels both classic and easy to live with.

Made in Hasami-yaki (波佐見焼), Nagasaki Prefecture, a porcelain tradition supplying everyday tableware for over 400 years, the bowl has a gently curved rim and a lightly undulating hand-finished surface that gives it movement without formality. The interior glaze shows subtle kan'nyu (貫入), a fine crackle pattern that develops naturally during the kiln cooling process and is a mark of character in Japanese ceramics rather than a flaw. At 18cm wide it is generous enough for a salad, a pasta portion, or a shared side dish at the centre of the table. Distributed by Ozaki Touki (尾崎陶器), Saga Prefecture.
