Hand wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent, then reshape while damp and air dry away from direct sunlight. Colours may transfer or gradually soften over time, especially through friction and repeated washing, so avoid washing with light-coloured items. Do not use chlorine bleach or harsh cleaning products. If needed, iron on a low to medium setting on the reverse side.

As the cloth is cotton, minor variation in size can occur. For furoshiki, this is also normal: the finished cloth may be slightly longer in one direction rather than a mathematically exact square. Hamamonyo specifies that its 90 cm Furoshiki Cloth is 100% cotton shantung, a crisp fabric with irregular textural slubs, and notes that dimensions can vary slightly due to fabric movement and production.
