Osmanthus may be unfamiliar to many UK customers, but the scent is easy to understand once described.
The small flowers have a sweet floral fragrance with a distinct fruity character, often reminiscent of ripe apricot or soft stone fruit. Nippon Kodo describes Kayuragi Osmanthus simply as sweet and fruity floral, which is exactly where its appeal lies.
Compared with White Peach, Osmanthus feels more floral. Compared with Jasmine or Wisteria, it carries more fruitiness and warmth. That gives it a useful middle position in the Kayuragi range.
The series combines scent with kimono-inspired packaging and slowly wafting smoke, while its coreless incense format keeps the burning material from adding a bamboo note.
The box contains 40 sticks and a mini ceramic incense holder. Each stick burns for approximately 25 minutes.
