Postcard, Cats in a Snowy Town (PPA-232f)

At a glance

• A black cat reaches towards a postbox outside a snow-covered Japanese shop
• Nostalgic winter scenery includes a second cat watching from the doorway

A little piece of winter correspondence, with a cat delivering the post.

In a quiet Japanese town, snow rests on the roof of an old wooden shop. A black cat stretches up towards a red postbox, while another cat watches nearby.

Titled Yukiguni Dayori, or “News from Snow Country”, this illustration belongs to the Tabineko series, following cats through Japan's changing seasons. The muted colours and small everyday details give the scene the character of an old picture book.
