Japanese Cypress takes Kayuragi in a distinctly woody direction.

Hinoki has a clean, fresh wood character that feels very different from the sweeter fruit and flower fragrances in the range. Nippon Kodo describes it as refreshing and relaxing, with the scent of Japanese cypress at the centre.

For UK customers unfamiliar with hinoki, the easiest reference is freshly cut aromatic wood rather than pine air freshener. It is resinous enough to feel natural, but cleaner and lighter than a heavy smoky wood scent.

Kayuragi combines fragrance with the visual movement of incense smoke, and the packaging takes inspiration from Japanese kimono fabrics. The sticks have no bamboo core, allowing the fragrance itself to remain the focus.
