Sakaimachi 101 incense is built to hold a room steady: light one stick before you read or work, and let it settle in while your attention does the same.
The character is refined and precise, natural woods and aromatics with minimal smoke, restrained rather than sweet or heavy. It comes from Kungyokudo, often cited as Japan's oldest continuing incense house, founded in 1594 near Kyoto's Nishi Hongan-ji temple. The name comes from the address of their historic shop, tradition carried lightly rather than displayed.
Each stick burns 20 to 30 minutes, long enough for a reading hour or a full work session. No holder is included.
One stick, and the room holds still for as long as the work needs it to.
