This set brings one of Soma Ware’s most practical techniques to the whole sake service.

The carafe and two cups use hollow double-wall construction. With warmed sake, the layer of air inside slows heat loss while reducing how much heat reaches your hands. With chilled sake, the same structure helps the drink hold its cooler temperature for longer.

That makes the construction particularly useful when sharing a bottle at the table. The carafe can remain between two people while the temperature changes more slowly, giving the drink more time to be enjoyed rather than rushed.

Across all three pieces, fine aohibi blue crackle spreads through the pale green glaze. The pattern develops naturally during cooling, so each piece carries its own network of lines.

The left-facing running horse brings the set its traditional symbolism. Its direction connects with a Japanese expression meaning “there is no one to its right”, or nothing surpasses it. The horse has therefore become associated with good fortune and important new beginnings.

Together, the shared drinking format and good-fortune meaning make the set particularly fitting for a wedding, anniversary or housewarming. It works as a celebratory gift, but the double-wall construction gives it a practical reason to return to the table whenever sake is shared.
