Mount Fuji is built into the glass itself.

Look through the base and a three-dimensional mountain rises beneath your drink. Its appearance changes with what you pour: amber whisky gives Fuji a warm golden glow, while deeper-coloured drinks create a different view again.

That transformation is what makes the glass more than a decorative Mount Fuji motif. The effect appears through use, giving a slow whisky, shochu or evening drink something new to notice as the liquid moves and the glass turns in your hand.

The low, broad rock-glass form leaves room for whisky served neat or over ice while keeping the mountain clearly visible through the base. Light passing through the drink changes its appearance again, so the same Fuji can look subtly different from one pour to the next.

Each glass is handmade in Tokyo using Edo Glass techniques. Small bubbles and slight differences in shape are natural characteristics of the making process, giving each piece subtle variation of its own.

The Mount Fuji Glass design received the Grand Prix and Japan Tourism Agency Commissioner’s Award at the 2015 Omiyage Grand Prix. Presented in a wooden box, it makes a distinctive gift for someone who enjoys whisky, Japanese design or objects that reveal more through use.
