Sweet osmanthus may be unfamiliar to many people in the UK, but its fragrance is surprisingly easy to recognise once described.
The small flowers have a warm floral scent with a softly fruity character often compared with ripe apricot or peach. Nishijin no Mokusei captures that warmth, giving the room a sweeter and more enveloping fragrance than the lighter cherry blossom or lotus incenses in the collection.
Kungyokudo places the scent in Kyoto’s Nishijin district, where the fragrance of osmanthus can appear unexpectedly along narrow streets between traditional townhouses. That autumn setting helps explain the warmer character of the blend rather than simply providing a place name.
For someone who likes floral incense but wants more warmth and fruitiness than a fresh spring blossom, this is one of the clearest choices in the range.
Each box contains 60 sticks, with an approximate burn time of 25 minutes per stick. No incense holder is included.
