Care instructions

Hang where the strip can move freely and the bell cannot strike nearby hard surfaces.

Bring indoors during rain, storms or strong winds.

Wipe gently with a soft, well-wrung cloth when necessary, then dry immediately.

Avoid metal polish, abrasive cleaners and hard scrubbing, which may alter the traditional coloured finish.

Subtle differences in colour and tone are natural characteristics of the hand-finishing process.

Special

At a glance

• Clear brass tone with a long, lingering resonance
• Traditional Takaoka colouring makes every finish subtly different
• Slender sculptural form brings presence without taking up much space

Onion is made for anyone who wants the sound of a brass wind chime to linger.

Its cast-brass body (60% copper, 40% zinc) produces a clear note with a long after-sound, giving it a fuller sonic presence than smaller wind chimes while remaining compact enough for a window, doorway or sheltered corner.

The surface is equally distinctive. Golden Brown and Blackish Brown are created using a traditional Takaoka colouring process that transforms the metal surface rather than simply covering it with ordinary paint. Changes in the finishing process naturally create subtle differences in tone from one piece to another.

Its elongated onion silhouette gives the chime visual presence without feeling bulky. The narrow profile works easily in smaller spaces, while the rounded lower body and tapered top make it feel considered even when the air is still.

As with Nousaku's other brass wind chimes, each piece is individually finished and sound-checked, leaving slight tonal differences between otherwise identical chimes.

Made by Nousaku in Takaoka, Toyama.
