A short coffee does not have to mean a plain espresso cup.

This Kutani porcelain demitasse pairs a compact 65ml cup with its own saucer, giving espresso, ristretto and other short coffee servings a more complete setting without the scale of a standard coffee cup.

Seikou Kiln uses its distinctive overglaze decoration across the small porcelain form. The colour has a glossy, glass-like depth and sits slightly raised on the surface, so the pattern can be felt as well as seen.

The compact size brings the decoration close to the hand each time the cup is lifted, making the pattern part of the experience rather than something viewed only from across the table.

Three traditional motifs are available.

Yoraku
Jewelled ornament motif associated with decorative Buddhist and ceramic traditions.

Fujin Raijin
Wind and thunder gods used as an auspicious motif for protection and good fortune.

Plum
Ume blossom associated with early spring and resilience through winter.
