At a glance
• Ylang-ylang and amber turn the sandalwood base into the richest floral scent in the series
• Warm, expressive and noticeably sweeter than Kamo, Saga or Arashiyama
• Inspired by fragrance briefly encountered while passing through Gion at night
Gion's Blossoms is the most expressive scent in SANSHISUIMEI.
The blend begins with sandalwood, then adds ylang-ylang and amber. Kousaido describes the result as sweet, glamorous and created from the effect of several flowers together rather than one recognisable blossom.
The scene is Gion after dark: a fragrance noticed briefly as someone passes. The incense is pink, echoing the warm, decorative character of the composition.
For choosing within the collection, this is the richest floral direction. Murasakino is also sweet but softer and more violet-like; Gion has greater warmth and amber depth. Kamo and Saga sit much further towards freshness, while Arashiyama reduces sweetness almost entirely.
That contrast gives Gion a clear role for evenings, entertaining or simply whenever you want the fragrance itself to have more presence in the room.
