The repeating arcs of Seigaiha turn one of Japan's longstanding wave patterns into an everyday side plate.

Each wave opens like a fan and continues into the next, giving the motif its traditional associations with continuity and prosperity. The tightly repeated pattern feels graphic from a distance, while closer inspection reveals small changes in the depth of the indigo.

That character comes from KOMON's specialised pad-printing process. Instead of aiming for the completely even finish of a conventional transfer, the technique preserves slight pigment variation and surface relief that recall the character of gosu decoration.

At 15cm, the plate fits easily into daily meals for cake, fruit, bread, cheese, snacks, starters or small side dishes.

It can also be mixed with other KOMON motifs, keeping the same blue-and-white palette while giving each place setting its own pattern.
