At a glance

- Hasami-yaki (波佐見焼), Nagasaki Prefecture; by Kihara (キハラ), Arita
- Symbol of good fortune, arrow feather Yagasuri (矢絣) motif in gosu underglaze blue
- 15cm wide; dishwasher and microwave safe; pairs with other KOMON patterns

A side plate that carries four centuries of meaning on its face.

The yagasuri arrow feather is one of Japan's oldest auspicious patterns, woven into bridal kimonos since the Edo period between 17th and 19th century as a symbol of good fortune and a life moving purposefully forward. Here, Kihara renders it in classic indigo blue on white Hasami porcelain, using a specialist pad-printing technique that preserves the slight relief and blur of traditional gosu brushwork.

At 15cm across, this is the plate that earns its place on the table every day: a resting place for olives and cheese before dinner, a side for bread, a small canvas for a slice of cake. Bought in a set of patterns, the KOMON range transforms a table into something that feels genuinely considered.

Made in Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture. Dishwasher and microwave safe.
