Kutani Ware Porcelain Cat Shaped Side Plate, 14cm

At a glance

• Full cat silhouette brings character to condiments, sweets and other small servings
• The shallow elongated form also works naturally as a trinket dish for rings and small jewellery
• Light Blue and Red use different markings, giving the same cat shape two distinct personalities

This is one of those small dishes that is useful before you have even decided what to put in it.

On the table, the cat-shaped porcelain works for olives, nuts, sauces, chutney, pickles, chocolates or a small dessert. Its narrow body keeps small portions contained without taking up much space beside a larger plate or cheeseboard.

Away from the table, the same shallow 14cm form makes an easy place for rings, earrings, hair clips or other small everyday objects on a bedside table or dressing table.

The two variants give the cat different personalities rather than simply changing the background colour. Light Blue keeps most of the porcelain white and concentrates colour around selected details, while Red introduces bolder patches across the body and tail.

It also connects directly with Harekutani's larger 26cm Cat Shaped Plate and the cat-shaped chopstick rest, making it easy to add one playful detail or gradually build a small cat-themed table setting.
