Kutani Ware Porcelain Rimmed Pasta Plate, Snow Crystal, 24cm

At a glance

• Snow Crystal appears twice: painted across the rim and echoed in the faceted inner shape
• Deep rim and shallow well comfortably contain pasta, curry, risotto, stews and gravy
• Dedicated presentation box and symbolic motif make it particularly suited to weddings and new-home gifts

The Snow Crystal idea is built into more than the surface decoration.

Different crystal motifs drift across the broad rim, while the inner well subtly changes from a simple circle into a faceted form that echoes the geometry of a snowflake. Harekutani specifically designed the painting and the plate shape to express the same motif.

White keeps the effect pale and restrained, revealing more detail as the light moves across the surface. Blue gives the individual crystals a clearer graphic presence.

The wide rim and deeper centre also make the shape genuinely practical. At 24cm wide and 4.2cm high, it works for pasta, risotto, curry, stew or a Sunday roast with gravy without behaving like a completely flat dinner plate.

Harekutani associates the Snow Crystal series with happiness and new beginnings, and supplies this plate in its own dedicated presentation box, giving it a natural wedding or housewarming role as well as everyday use.
