There is a particular pleasure in a teapot that feels worth using.
The flower vine teaport of Kihara's FIORE collection is painted freehand in Arita with gosu, the cobalt-blue mineral pigment of the classical Japanese sometsuke tradition. The vine motif is applied with confident, flowing brushwork before a transparent glaze is fired over the top, locking the pattern beneath a smooth, luminous surface. Because the painting is done by hand, each teapot varies slightly in the density of the vine, in the depth of the blue, in the precise curl of each flower.
The form was designed to brew beautifully: the rounded body allows tea leaves to circulate and open fully, releasing more flavour into each cup. The internal filter screens the leaves. At approximately 450ml, this brews two generous cups or four smaller ones.
Pair with the FIORE yunomi cups for a matching set. Equally at home with English breakfast tea as with Japanese green tea.
