At a glance
• Handmade Echizen washi gives an everyday calendar a tactile, crafted surface
• Sliding brass frame keeps the current date in focus with a simple monthly movement
• Reusable year after year, with no annual calendar to replace
A calendar designed to stay rather than be replaced every January.
The calendar is printed on Echizen washi, a paper tradition from Fukui with a long history of making strong, finely textured Japanese paper. Here, that material is paired with an acacia wood stand and a movable brass frame, giving a familiar desk object more warmth and presence.
Move the brass frame across the printed calendar to keep the current date in focus. It takes only a moment, but that small interaction becomes part of the object’s appeal over time.
The generous B5-size sheet is large enough to read easily without feeling bulky, while the dark acacia base keeps it stable on a desk, kitchen counter or hallway console.
Because the calendar is perpetual, it can be reset and used again year after year rather than discarded at the end of December.
