A simple fold can look completely different depending on where you stand.

Origami recreates that effect in cast iron, shaping the holder like a sheet of paper folded into two angled planes. Seen from one direction it appears restrained and almost flat; move around it and the central ridge and geometry become much more pronounced.

A small holder positions shorter incense sticks above the plate, with the folded surface catching the ash underneath. Its compact 8.5cm footprint makes it easy to place on a bedside table, desk or smaller shelf without needing the length of a conventional incense tray.

Made from cast iron in Yamagata, the material gives such a small object a reassuring physical presence. Even when no incense is burning, the folded form remains a small geometric object worth leaving on display.
