Care instructions

Safety notes:
Always place the item on a flat, stable surface away from anything flammable. Keep out of reach of children and pets. If using with incense, make sure the stick is fully extinguished before leaving it unattended. Some heat marks or incense staining may appear with use.

After use: Gently wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth to remove any ash or residue.

Storage: Iron is susceptible to rust if left damp; please ensure the holder is completely dry and store it in a dry, well-ventilated area.

Finish: This piece features a traditional lacquer-baked finish (hon-urushi yaki-tsuke). As a crafted metal object, it is intended for peaceful tabletop use and should be handled with care to maintain its protective finish and longevity.

Special

At a glance

• Two ways to position stick incense let you change its angle and the way the smoke rises
• Curved bamboo-leaf boat form catches falling ash while remaining sculptural between uses
• Cast iron is finished with genuine baked urushi lacquer for a deep, subtly lustrous surface

Inspired by a small boat folded from a bamboo leaf, Bamboo Leaf Boat turns an incense holder into a sculptural object even when nothing is burning.

The design gives you two ways to position stick incense. Place the separate incense stand on the dish for one arrangement, or insert the stick directly into one of the holes in the leaf-shaped body. Changing the position alters the angle of the incense and gives the rising smoke a slightly different movement.

The curved ends form a shallow basin beneath the stick, helping falling ash stay within the holder rather than reaching the surface below.

Cast in iron and finished with hon-urushi yaki-tsuke, a traditional baked urushi lacquer treatment, the dark surface retains the tactile character of the metal while giving it a subtle sheen.

Choose the Small for a compact shelf, bedside table or desk, or the Large when you want the holder to have more presence in the room.
