Coffee equipment has its own aesthetic language, and it is mostly industrial. This dripper speaks a different one: a softly weathered folk-craft glaze, the kind that looks like it has been on a kitchen shelf for decades, and a form that will slowly become more itself with every brew.

Made by CHIPS Inc. in Mino-yaki (美濃焼), Gifu Prefecture, Japan's largest ceramic region with over 1,300 years of continuous production. CHIPS was founded in 2016 to make tableware people reach for without thinking, partnering with specialist Mino potters using local materials and techniques. The Ancient Pottery dripper is made from stoneware, not porcelain: a denser, more resilient clay body that suits daily use. The form is wide and low with a flat base, three drainage holes and ribs that radiate outward from the base, creating an even flow and allowing air to escape steadily during the pour. The glaze has the intentional irregularities and weathered bronze-brown tones of the Ancient Pottery series. Over time and use, the stoneware develops a subtle patina from natural chemical reactions, making each dripper gradually more individual. Sits on a small flat disc foot with a tab handle. Suits standard paper filters. Microwave, oven and dishwasher safe. Available in Brass and Grey.
