Ancient Pottery was designed for people drawn to the irregular character of antique and artist-made ceramics, but who still want a bowl they can use without treating it delicately.

The 13.8cm octagonal form has subtly faceted sides rather than a perfectly smooth curve. Glaze settles differently across those shallow ridges, bringing out variations in colour, pooling and flow that become more noticeable as the bowl turns in your hands.

That aged appearance is paired with something much more practical underneath. The bowl is made from dense, high-fired Mino stoneware and can go in the microwave, dishwasher and oven up to 240°C.

At 400ml, it fits easily into everyday meals: soup, cereal or porridge in the morning, yoghurt and fruit, a small salad, pudding or a Japanese-style side dish.

Three finishes give the same form quite different personalities. White is warm and softly speckled with visible iron particles. Grey mixes blue, brown and pale tones with kiln variation reminiscent of weathered metal. Brass has the darkest, most antique-like appearance and gradually develops further colour changes through contact with oil and acidic foods.
