Gentle Cleaning: Hand-wash only using a soft sponge or cloth. Never use metal scourers, abrasive sponges, or harsh cleansing chemicals, as these will cause surface damage and weaken the glass.

Avoid Temperature Shocks: This glass is delicate and will crack under extreme temperature changes. Do not pour hot liquid into a cold vessel (or vice versa), and avoid placing heated glass on wet surfaces.

Safe Handling: Take extra care when washing the interior; avoid using force or twisting the glass, as this can lead to accidental breakage.

Each colourway in this series is a Japanese landscape. Not an abstraction of one, a specific scene, in specific colours, from a specific season.

Made by Tsugaruvidro (津軽びいどろ) in Aomori Prefecture, the Nihon no Iro Fukei (にほんの色ふうけい, Colours of Japan, Scenery) series renders Japanese seasonal scenes in hand-blown layered glass. Each piece is mouth-blown individually; the colour gradations and subtle variation between pieces are the mark of hand production. The blue colourway depicts ajisai (紫陽花), hydrangeas blooming on a rain-washed lane. The orange colourway captures a different seasonal scene from the same series. The rounded, plump form is palm-sized and sits comfortably on a desk, shelf or windowsill. It includes a small landscape card depicting the scene each colourway represents, making it well suited to giving as a gift. For one or two stems placed simply.
