Postcard, Onigiri Cats (PPR-189)

At a glance

• Three cats are transformed into Japanese onigiri rice balls
• Different toppings and expressions give each little character its own personality

Three cats, three rice balls, and not quite the lunch you expected.

Each cat takes the rounded shape of an onigiri, complete with recognisable details such as seaweed, a red pickled plum and other toppings. Their little faces remain visible, turning familiar Japanese rice balls into amusing characters.

The loose watercolour lines and pale blue serving plate keep the composition simple, letting the three cats provide the humour.
