Special

At a glance

• Hand-hammered texture gives the tin a tactile surface that catches light from every angle
• Tin quickly takes on the temperature of chilled drinks, bringing the cold directly into your hand
• Presented as a pair in a paulownia box for weddings, anniversaries or a new home

The Berg tumblers make their material noticeable from the moment you pick them up.

Fine hammered marks cover the surface, catching the light differently as each tumbler moves in your hand. The texture also gives the fingers something to settle against, while the smooth rim keeps the drinking edge comfortable.

Tin responds quickly to temperature. Pour in beer, sake or another chilled drink and the metal cools with it, bringing that cold sensation directly into your hand rather than keeping it behind a layer of glass.

There is meaning in the material too. Tinware has long been valued in Japan as an auspicious object because tin resists rust and decay, an association that suits a pair intended to be lived with over time.

Presented together in a paulownia wood box, the two tumblers make a natural gift for a wedding, anniversary or new home. They are made to be used together rather than kept aside simply because they came boxed.

Osaka Suzuki continues the tradition of Osaka Naniwa Tinware under craftsman Tatsumasa Imai, named a Contemporary Master Craftsman in 2012.
