Chopstick & Glass Rest Set, Summer Festival & Fireworks

At a glance

• Two handmade glass rests capture festival colour and fireworks against the summer night
• Layered coloured glass shifts with the light and varies slightly from piece to piece
• A boxed pair for two that works as both useful tableware and a shared gift

Two different moments of a Japanese summer meet across one table.

The original Matsuri Hanabi design pairs two Tsugaru Vidro rests. Matsuri evokes the colour and energy of a summer festival, while hanabi captures the burst of fireworks across the night sky. The rests are deliberately different rather than repeating one pattern twice.

Both are made from layered coloured glass. Light passing through the glass changes the way the colours read, while hand forming gives each piece slight differences in colour, shape and weight.

The set pairs them with natural wood Wakasa nuri chopsticks. During a meal, the glass rests keep the chopstick tips away from the tabletop. After use, the pieces return to their presentation box, keeping a complete setting for two together.

The contrast between the two glass designs makes the pair particularly suited to a wedding, anniversary or new-home gift: coordinated without being identical.
