There is another fish waiting inside the cup.

Red medaka move around the white exterior, while a contrasting blue medaka appears inside. As the level of the drink falls, that small interior detail becomes increasingly visible, making the design something you discover through use rather than all at once.

The decoration combines blue sometsuke beneath the glaze with warmer overglaze colour above it. The two techniques give the blue and red fish subtly different depth and character across the porcelain.

The shape has its own reason for being distinctive. KOSHUHAI's rounded interior guides aroma upwards and keeps it circulating closer to the narrowed opening, bringing fragrance towards you as you raise the cup.

At 130ml, the compact form works naturally for sake but is not limited to it. It can just as easily hold a smaller tea, short coffee, whisky or another drink when you prefer a modest serving. The slight waist also gives the fingers a comfortable place to settle.
