The green on this cup changes across the surface.

Its Irabo glaze moves through mottled moss, forest and softer olive greens, with small shifts in tone and texture rather than one perfectly uniform finish. The slightly uneven surface gives the porcelain a tactile quality too, so the glaze is something you experience in the hand as well as see.

Irabo has a long connection with Japanese tea ceramics, where its irregular surface and iron-rich character became part of its appeal. Here, those qualities bring warmth and variation to Arita porcelain, with each piece carrying subtle differences of its own.

The KOSHUHAI form gives that surface a functional purpose to sit alongside. Its rounded interior encourages fragrance to rise along the walls and remain closer to the narrowed opening, making aroma more noticeable as the cup approaches your face.

A slight waist gives your fingers a natural point of grip, while three small feet lift the base from the table. At 300ml, there is room for whisky or shochu over ice, but the same form also works naturally for green tea, black tea or coffee.
