The first thing you notice is how different the porcelain feels. Instead of a slick, glossy surface, FIORE has a matt, lightly tactile finish with small iron specks and gentle glaze variation left visible.

Across it, the flower and curling vine are painted by hand in gosu, the deep blue pigment closely associated with Arita porcelain. Changes in the amount of pigment carried by the brush create lighter and darker areas through the design, so each cup has slightly different movement and depth.

Made in Arita, Saga Prefecture, the cup combines the refinement of porcelain with a more tactile character than a conventional smooth finish. The handleless shape makes that difference part of using it too, because your fingers rest directly against the matt glaze whenever you pick it up.

At 200ml, it is a compact size for green tea, hojicha, black tea or a shorter coffee. A matching FIORE Flower Vine teapot is also available if you want the same hand-painted design across a tea set.
