Care instructions

Use an aluminium-cup tealight no larger than approximately Ø4 × H2cm. Place the burner on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable materials.

The cast iron and plate become hot during use. Allow them to cool fully before touching, removing ash or changing configurations.

After use, wipe the iron gently with a soft, dry cloth. Cast iron can rust if left damp, so keep the piece dry and store it away from moisture.

Do not leave a burning candle or incense unattended.

Tealight, tea leaves, incense and teapot are not included unless otherwise stated.

Special

At a glance

• Gently warms tea leaves, herbs or coffee beans over a tealight, releasing their fragrance gradually into the room
• Removable iron plate can also be used for cone incense, or lifted away to use the cast-iron base as a teapot warmer
• Substantial 800g cast-iron body sits securely on the table and is finished with genuine baked urushi lacquer

Tea does not have to be brewed to be enjoyed.

Place a small amount of dry tea leaves on the iron plate and light a tealight underneath. As the plate warms gradually, the leaves begin to release a toasted, aromatic fragrance into the room while the candle casts a soft glow through the open cast-iron base.

Green tea is the traditional starting point, but the burner is not limited to it. Black tea, Chinese tea, herbs and coffee beans can all be warmed in the same way, letting the fragrance change with whatever you have at home or feel like using that day.

The removable plate gives the piece more than one role. It can also serve as a dish for cone incense, while lifting it away leaves the cast-iron base ready to support a suitable teapot above the tealight as a warmer.

At around 800g, the cast iron gives the burner a reassuringly stable presence despite its compact 12cm footprint. The black surface is finished with genuine urushi lacquer baked onto the iron, bringing a traditional Yamagata cast-iron treatment to an object designed for everyday use.

Whether it is warming tea, holding incense or keeping a pot gently warm, the simple iron form can stay on the table rather than being brought out for only one purpose.

One piece of candle is included.

Ways to Use

With tea or botanicals
Place a small amount of dry tea leaves, herbal tea or coffee beans on the iron plate. Light a suitably sized tealight underneath and allow the plate to warm gradually. The aim is to release the aroma slowly rather than scorch the leaves.

With cone incense
Use the removable iron plate as the surface for a cone incense. Allow all ash and the plate to cool completely before cleaning.

As a teapot warmer
Remove the iron plate and place a suitably sized, heat-safe teapot on the cast-iron supports above the tealight.
