This miniature mayonnaise tube recreates the shape of a partly used condiment pack, complete with its curved body and red cap. The indentation is not only there for realism: it creates a natural groove for chopsticks to rest without rolling across the table.

It is made in Arita by Kitagawa Bisen Kiln, a kiln particularly skilled in small ceramic objects. Each piece is individually finished, so slight differences in colour and glaze give the tiny form some character of its own.
